How to port traditional S7-1200 CPU programs to S7-1200 G2 CPU?

If we want to port the existing program logic from S7-1200 CPU to S7-1200G2 CPU,

Please note that no type of CPU can exchange devices with S7-1200 G2CPU.

Please also note that the instruction set and library support in S7-1200 G2 are different from other CPU series.

To migrate program logic from S7-1200 CPU to S7-1200 G2 CPU, follow these steps:

1. S7-1200 G2 CPU and configure the device. Please be sure to pay attention to the above warnings when upgrading the project.

2. Copy the program block from S7-1200 CPU to S7-1200 G2CPU.

3. Create and edit any PLC variable table you need.

4. Try compiling the program and select “rebuild all” for both hardware and software.

5. Resolve any memory and I/O addressing differences between two CPUs. Resolve any instruction differences between two CPUs,Continue resolving compiler errors until the program compiles successfully
